HULL City climbed back into the Championship play-off places as they recorded an emphatic 3-0 win over Bristol City this afternoon.

First half goals from Jack Hobbs and Robert Koren were followed up by a Matty Fryatt third as the Tigers earned their biggest win of the season at the KC Stadium.

The victory lifted City back up into the top six and ensured their promotion hopes remain very much alive. With 10 points from their last four games, City will head to promotion rivals Birmingham on Tuesday night in high spirits.

After enduring a frustrating stalemate at home to Doncaster 11 days earlier, the Tigers needed just 13 minutes to break the deadlock. Koren's right-wing corner was met by Hobbs and his slightly deflected header beat David James from eight yards out.

Brady's cross from the right found Koren in space and sent an unstoppable header back past James into the top corner. The visitors threatened a comeback when Albert Adomah struck the crossbar before James Chester cleared Ryan McGivern's follow-up off the line, but City reached the break in complete control. City searched for a third to kill off the Robins after the break. Fryatt could have had a hat-trick as he tormented Bristol City's back four but his persistence finally paid off on the hour mark.

Koren's slide pass cut open the visitors' defence and when rounding James, the City striker ended a two-month drought to finish with style.

Bristol City searched for a route back into the game but the Tigers held firm to claim a fourth consecutive clean-sheet in the league.
